Description:  The Historical Society will be meeting upstairs! All are welcome to attend!

Ferrel Anderson will present: “Archaeological mystery:  random find of exotic pottery sherd leads to theories for end of the Hopewell mound building culture”

Ferrel will lead us on an archaeological journey conducted to explain a local find of an exotic pottery sherd that was made by potters from either the state of southwest Georgia or northwest Florida.  This study resulted in additional unexpected finds that point toward the explanation of the mysterious end of the Hopewell mound building culture in 450 AD.   Please put on your thinking caps!

When Ferrel was here at the PBHS in 2019, he invited attendees to bring in artifacts they may have from the area, and he examined and identified them. If time permits on Oct. 11, attendees are again invited to bring items they may have for identification by Ferrel.

The PBHS meets on the second Wednesday of most months. The public is invited to attend.
