Native Garden Task Force
Join a task force to help us maintain our Native Garden! Becki Wells will guide us in identifying Native Plants and invasive plants, and then we will all pull weeds and beautify our garden space. This task force will meet on the 4th Wednesday of every month as weather permits.

Teentober Reading Challenge and Art Contest
QCA Libraries Present Teentober: an annual reading challenge and art contest for teens 11-19 years old.
Reading Challenge: Pick up a reading log at the circ desk anytime this month, or print your own from home! Submit your log to the library by October 31st to receive a small prize.
Arts Contest: The Teentober Arts Contest contains 4 categories: Writing, Video, Performance Art, and Visual Arts. All submissions are due by October 31st, and must be turned in digitally (Use our Google Form). Winners will be announced, and entries will be showcased at the Putnam Museum during our Red Carpet Awards Ceremony. Performance Arts submissions are invited, but not required to perform their pieces live at the showcase.
Writing: Writing entries must be 1000 words or less.
Video: Videos must be under 5 minutes.
Performance: Performance of music, dance or spoken word must be under 5 minutes.
Visual Arts: Art entries must be submitted digitally. Let us know if you need help scanning your work.

Historical Society ft. IL Paranormal Research Group
Have you ever heard or seen things that you couldn’t explain? Are you interested in the unknown?
Founded in 2010, the Illinois Paranormal Research Group’s (IPRG) mission and vision are to increase information, awareness, and acceptance of the paranormal. Since its beginning, the team has evolved and grown.
Making their mark in the paranormal community, in July 2023, IPRG was the Cover Story in American Paranormal Magazine. Since 2018, the team has been co-hosting 10 sold-out Public Investigations each year at Quarters One on the Rock Island Arsenal with the Rock Island Arsenal MWR. The team has also appeared on and has taken over hosting of the national podcast “Unknown Files”! The team continues to search for answers by traveling to well-known haunted locations around the Midwest and other parts of the United States whenever possible!
Listen to them speak about their experiences, learn about the tools of their trade, and take part in a Question/Answer session!

Published Author Book Launch Party
Check out these incredible books written by this year’s Published Author Students! These titles range several genres including poetry, children’s books, mystery, adventure, fantasy, and biography. Each author will be doing a short reading of their book, and signing copies for their families and friends.
Teen Anime Day @ the Figge
Dust off your cosplay and grab your sketchbooks! We invite teens (ages 11-19) to the Figge Art Museum for an afternoon of manga, anime, Japanese culture, and art! We will be giving out prizes for cosplay, drawing, gaming, and trivia. You can bring your best drawing with you or draw while at the event. Registration required and limited to 100 attendees. Teen Anime Day attendees get free admission, but Grown-ups or other family members who wish to remain in the Figge Art Museum during the event will need to purchase admission at the front desk.
