Friends of the River Valley Library

Interested in volunteering your time to enhance our library space and services? Consider becoming a friend of the library! The Friends of RVDL fundraise money for special programming such as River Valley Robotics, Summer Reading, and Fall Festival. They also engage in many recreational and social activities throughout the month such as Bunco, Hand and Foot, and It’s Your Choice Book Club. The Friends of the River Valley District Library is a non-profit group that is dedicated to helping the library make information and knowledge accessible to the communities it serves. The Friends purchase special library materials and equipment, as well as sponsor numerous programs throughout the year. Funds are generated by memberships, book sales, gifts, and grants. 

The Friends of the River Valley District Library meet on the first Thursday of each month, with breakfast at 9:45am and the meeting beginning at 10am, at the library. Friends members are people like you who believe in and support public libraries. Would you like to join us?

Friends of the River Valley District Library

The Friends of the River Valley District Library is a dedicated 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with a mission to support the library and make knowledge accessible to all the communities we serve. Through our fundraising efforts, we help the library provide enhanced programs, improved resources, and meaningful outreach initiatives.

Our Achievements

· Provided over $30,000 in additional funding to support library programs, equipment, and outreach.

· Launched Sip & Flip Coffee Bar inside the library, a direct response to community requests.

· Contributed to the library’s Christmas donation drive and other community initiatives.

· Participated in Trunk or Treat and Community Halloween Party at the Rapids City Fire Protection District/Port Byron Fire Department

· Organized Plant sale.

· Participate in various community events throughout the year

Events & Community Engagement

We take pride in hosting a variety of annual and ongoing events, including: Community Christmas Walk Christmas Bake Sale Community Garage Sale Book Sales Fall Festival Bingo & Bunco Nights …and much, much more!

Our events not only raise funds for the library but also bring the community together for fun, social connection, and a shared love of learning.

Our Meetings

We meet on the first Thursday of the Month at 10:00 am, with a light breakfast served at 9:45 am.
