As Seen on the Streaming Services that You Don’t Own

I was browsing Netflix on a cold and cozy day, when I realized that it’s been a little over 3 years since I have binged all of The Office. I searched for it on Netflix, with no luck, and found that the show is only available on Peacock (arguably the worst streaming service). I start scrolling through the Peacock collection and I swipe past shows like Community, Parks and Recreation, and Modern Family. I’m thinking to myself “$7.99 a month? That’s like 1 box of chicken tenders at Caseys.” Then I saw six little words that sold me. "Try it free for seven days!" Needless to say, I took the bait.

You may be thinking “But Pubali, Peacock doesn’t offer a free subscription”. Well, that’s because this was 3 years ago, and no, I am not still paying for it. I did watch the other shows that I was interested in, and I even tried out some shows that I wasn’t sure if I would like. I had been paying for this subscription for almost a year, when I had realized that all of the shows I actually liked are available for check-out at my local library. It is now time for my triannual Office binge, and this time, I will be eating Casey’s chicken tenders.

If you have ever fallen victim to the free trial, I strongly advise that you check our library’s catalogue before entering your credit card information into another streaming service platform.
