A Month of Rock-Solid Fun!

Mineral March

Get ready to dig into a month of rock-themed adventures during Mineral March! We've already cracked open the fun with Geodes and Gem Shaping, but there's still more to explore.

Coming up this week:

🔹 Mining for Gold and Other Minerals 3/20 – Try your hand at prospecting and learn about the minerals hidden beneath the surface in this interactive, hands-on activity.
🔹 Fryxell Geology Museum Tour 3/21 – Take a deep dive into the fascinating world of fossils, minerals, and gemstones with an exclusive guided tour at Augustana College’s Fryxell Geology Museum.

Don't miss out on a month filled with discovery, exploration, and geological wonders! Keep an eye on our calendar for even more rock-solid fun. ⛏✨

Geodes and Gem Shaping

Cracking geodes and learning about crystal and mineral formations with local gem shaper, Jacob Lee Downey. This program was educational, inspirational, and so much fun!

This Friday:

Fryxell Geology Museum Tour

The Fryxell Geology Museum Tour at Augustana College is an engaging educational initiative designed to bring the wonders of geology directly to the community. This program offers interactive presentations, hands-on fossil and mineral displays, and activities tailored for all ages. Led by experts from the Fryxell Geology Museum, this offsite program fosters curiosity and appreciation for the natural world, making geology accessible beyond the campus. Check out these pictures from our visit to the museum last year!
